A little peanut on a bonnet
Organic cotton sheets
Only the best for my baby to touch her soft cheeks
Princess, frills, and pattern stockings
Berets to hold her curls
She’s growing up so fast, I miss her ballet twirls
Formal white
Baptism and Communion
Perfect crease with patten shoes
What a union
Soft pink drapes her new horizons
Heels elongate her new form
Curls straightened out to drape her new face
That I don’t recognize anymore
No longer do I lay her down to sleep
But in this moment I shall take the only thing that I can keep
Formal garments now replace
My empty hands that once held her sweet angelic face
Fighting back the tears as another formal, pivotal moment in my daughter’s life has come and gone. She received the sacrament of Confirmation this past weekend. She looked so grown up and yet so innocently sweet.
May she be filled each day with the love and joy she felt today.
