Happy New Year everyone! I hope you were able to spend your holidays in peace and with those closest to you. I had a peaceful Christmas with my family, parents, sisters—and their families—and then a quiet start to the new year with my own children. On January first I took a nice long walk alone in the woods near my home. It got me thinking of the new tradition I started a few years ago. The two C’s: Conquer and Change. Instead of making a resolution each year—which like many of you I didn’t end up keeping—I decided to pick a fear or hesitation and conquer it head on. The results have been amazing and so inspiring. In the last few years I have conquered my fear of dogs (now my best friend is my dog Luna!), I have learned to swim (kicking, screaming, and yes crying—but I did it!) and I started this blog nearly a year ago!
The first ‘C’ stands for ‘conquer’. This year I would like to learn to step out of my comfort zone once again by making video content related to TAFF. Easy-peasy for some, scary as hell for me! I love my keyboard, my time alone, and my Luna sleeping peacefully next to me as I type away. Therefore, I will have to be creative and find ways to be in front of a camera and be comfortable with it. There, now I put it in writing so it will manifest into reality! I hope to take you all on this journey with me as I stumble along and find my way.
The second important ‘C’ stands for ‘change’, namely your passwords. All of them! I do this every January. So much of our personal content is in digital form protected by various passwords. My email got hacked many years ago and ‘someone’ sent a pornographic email on my behalf to a priest who was on my email list. I was mortified! If that story is not enough to convince you to change your passwords each year I don’t know what will!
Conquer a fear and change your passwords! January can be a downer of a month (although it’s my birthday month, woohoo!) so finding ways to make it more entertaining for yourself is a great way to fend off those seasonal blues that can creep up on all of us each winter.
Message me a fear you want to conquer this year and we will hold each other accountable, but please don’t message me your new passwords—keep those in a safe place!
