Clinking and clanking and chatter about
Fussing and tossing, in plates and out
Holiday music dancing softly throughout
Children’s chatter and thunderous trotting, every move they tried, even hopping
The house never felt so alive as the fire burned high
Warm air it blew as the winds outside whipped through
Evening passed, hearts and glasses were filled, both brimming and leaving the soul fulfilled
Hung stockings, lights twinkled—each moment that passed are memories made we must cherish them fast
Tomorrow is not promised to no one it’s true, but this Christmas we will celebrate with loved ones, it’s certainly long overdue
For the month of December I will be writing a poem each week celebrating—or giving a nod to—the holiday season. It can be difficult for many of you who will be celebrating far from your loved ones. I hope you find peace and some time to spend with those that care and love you most.
