Endings

Sometimes the time is right.

Sometimes the time is wrong.

Sometimes it’s neither one, it’s just time.

The tears are long gone along with the hope of renewal.

You put your best foot forward

But it was your soul that they coveted.

Don’t look back they can’t hurt you anymore

Cross the street, leave their lies behind

For it is you against the world, with one less person to keep in mind.

It will cut deep but all wounds heal.

It won’t be necessary to conceal.

Life is real so don’t be afraid to feel.

Even the ugly—the seemingly impossible—will mend and twist until it’s the perfect shape, perhaps a star…

That in time will look to be the most beautiful battle scar.

So chin up and say goodbye, baby it’s just time for you to fly.

The hardest thing for me is drawing a line in the sand. I don’t take endings lightly. Even as I’m falling, I do it kicking and screaming, until I hit the rocky bottom with a large thud. However, when I finally decide to dust off and walk away I don’t look back, and it’s set in stone. How do you deal with endings? Feel free to comment below.

  1. As always, brilliantly said G! Unfortunately I struggle with endings… regardless of whether it was long overdue, toxic or out of my control. Time is the only tool that somehow someway consistently provides the reassurance and perspective needed to stop looking back. Miss you my friend G♥️
