Like a flash the seemingly unattainable enters the consciousness.
It awakens the desire, formulating it into a vision.
A future narrative of a momentous moment.
The path seems so long, so treacherous, so arduous.
For it is too late, the light burns within and so the body moves even without the mind’s informed consent.
The falls, the tears, the tear apart and make whole again.
The gains, the losses.
The doubts, the fears, the fearsome competition.
The senses are overburdened.
Quiet the noise inside in order to hear the chorus of glory.
Perform we must.
Home.
Adorned in gold.
What’s not to love about the Olympics? Everyone has a comeback story. They didn’t just wake up and find themselves there. Everybody has a path that they walked down that was difficult, and for many self-doubt was ever present throughout their journey. Yes, performing at the Olympics is for a chosen few, but the lessons are applicable to each one of us. We all have unfulfilled dreams and hopes for our future. My hope is that you are inspired by the courageous men and women you see on your screen. Take their stories—their energy—and apply it to your own life. A gold medal could very well be a state of mind, so keep it in the forefront.
